Tsumeb Minerals

 

A mimetite bowtie measuring 20 mm across perched on dolomite matrix! A small malachite sphere residing on the mimetite bowtie sets a sharp visual focus. Several other mimetite sprays scattered around make this a highly balanced and very aesthetic specimen!

 

Green smithsonite in botryoidal form has always been very scarce, and this is an excellent sample of this rare habit from this classic and defunct locale! The main sphere measures 13 mm across.

 

This specimen features very bright and shiny cobaltoan smithsonites to 20 mm across in a nicely shaped cluster. There is no damage to any of the crystals in the centre of the piece. What a superb sample of this highly sought after style of the species!

 

Small spheres of bluish and brownish willemite are fully covering the front side of a solid rock matrix. The piece has very good relief. Nice and very rare!

 

Reticulated cerussite is one of Tsumeb’s premier minerals, and great specimens have always been in high demand! This is a very fine specimen of twinned cerussites featuring very good transparency at the centre. The twinning structures are very well visible on both sides.

 

What a marvellous azurite cluster perched on matrix! The crystals feature the very best gemminess and lustre that Tsumeb is so famous for, as well as razor sharp edges at their terminations. The azurites are partially altered to green malachite what adds even more pizzazz to this extraordinarily fine specimen!

 

A nicely shaped aggregate of rhombohedral calcites with grass green duftite inclusions. Very showy on both sides!

 

Tiny sparkling dioptase crystals on duftite and snow white calcite! Reddish-brown hematite inclusions are also present in places. What a wonderful combination of colours and forms!

 

A massive galena ore matrix is richly covered by mimetite sprays. A few honey coloured wulfenites are also present and add even more interest and beauty. A very nice sample of this rare combination!

 

A large and lustrous dioptase crystal, measuring 20 by 12 mm, on top of a dioptase cluster on calcite matrix! Minor damage is present, but the specimen is still in very good condition. Very nice and showy!

 

Rounded mimetite aggregates in various sizes on brown rock matrix. A nicely balanced specimen!

 

This specimen features a twinned, thick and massy cerussite crystal perched on a shard of calcite matrix which is covered by small mimetite, malachite and probably also duftite crystals. The piece is actually a floater and in perfect condition all around. Also, the piece has great visual impact and it is truly a great small cabinet sized sample of the species.
